Visual Connections Awarded Sub-Contract on Department of Health and Human Services’ ERRP Project
Visual Connections has been awarded a sub-contract for Information Technology services on the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program, a Department of Health and Human Services initiative.
The ERRP provides reimbursement to participating employment-based plans for a portion of the costs of health benefits for early retirees and their spouses, surviving spouses and dependents. The program was authorized in the Affordable Care Act.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010 created a temporary reinsurance program for sponsors of employment-based health plans that provide retiree health benefits to retirees who are over age 55 and not yet eligible for the Medicare program. The program provides an 80 percent subsidy for retiree claims of between $15,000 and $90,000. Congress appropriated $5 billion for the program, which is effective June 1, 2010, and the subsidy will be available through the earlier of Jan. 1, 2014, or the date when the funds are exhausted.
Visual Connections’ work on ERRP will include supporting the portal development, testing, implementation and maintenance, and providing IBM web content management for multiple integrated software applications. Section 508 remediation and testing support will also be included in our work, as well as assisting in the tailoring and implementation of Pegasystems’ Business Process Management solution.
